In addition to running the Schaefer Training Academy, Tom Schaefer also makes a wide variety of custom leather products. His carry belt features a strip of spring steel embedded between layers of leather in the area where you intend to wear your holster. This prevents the belt from rolling over from the weight of the gun. If you intend to carry on a regular basis you need a good-quality belt designed for that purpose. Belts are available in brown and black in widths from 1 1/4' to 1 3/4'. The photo shows my well-worn black 1 1/4' belt.
	Tom also makes a wide variety of holsters custom fit to your gun. The photo shows my Kahr .40 in his generic belt slide, which seems to fit every gun I own perfectly.

Although I have been doing leather work since I was a teenager, I started Schaefer Leather Company in 1985 with the idea that I would make custom gear for hard to fit items. This was so successful that I now offer some of the more popular holster designs and belts as production items. I still enjoy designing and producing custom items as well. We can make a holster for any current production pistol, plus custom fittings for non-standard weapons such as scoped or laser sighted weapons. Western belts, dress belts, belts for hunting and concealed carry gear are a specialty. Since this is a full service leather shop, often you will see saddles and other working cowboy gear being made or serviced in the shop.

A new market which has begun to develop for us has been Cowboy Action Shooting items from authentic period gun belts and holsters to bandoleers, shotgun cartridge belts as well as shoulder holster systems.

Since our beginning we have concentrated a large portion of our efforts in creating quality leather gear for law enforcement and have a level 3 security holster plus any standard police issue leather such as keepers, flashlight and pager pouches as well as baton holders. If you have seen it somewhere or have an idea for a piece of police or hunting gear which you think would be useful, talk to us about it because it is very probable that we can create it for you.

Our prices are competitive with any other mass production leather company with our least expensive concealment holster beginning at $20 and our high end police security holster retailing at $150. Custom leather gear is priced according to the time required in design and manufacture but our prices are reasonable so please inquire about your specific needs.
