Course Description: The in-person training required for those taking the classroom portion of the Texas License To Carry course online.

This course is part of the core curriculum of the 40 hour Defensive Pistol Skills Program

It is offered in two versions:

1.5 hour "minimum" completion. Lecture plus the LTC shooting test ONLY.

2 hour "deluxe" version. Includes 1.5 hour material plus an additional 50 rounds of drills and practice preparing the student to perform well on the LTC shooting test. This version is equivalent to the Basic Pistol 2 course.

The 2 hour version is highly recommend for anyone that has not taken a formal handgun skills course in the past 10 years (or ever).

Cost: $60 (for 2 hour group course at the A-Zone Range). Private sessions of this course are available on weekdays at higher cost. Course cost does NOT include ammo. Student will bring his/her own ammunition. Loaner guns are available if reserved prior to class day.

For prices and upcoming course dates, check the schedule page.

Length: 1.5 hours (2 hours for deluxe version)

Prerequisites: none. You do not have to have completed the online LTC course to attend the range portion. You can take the range part first and the online classroom second if you want.

Not sure whether you would benefit from the additional coaching?

This article can help you determine if taking Basic Pistol 2 prior to LTC is appropriate.

Our Basic Pistol 2 class is a great pre-LTC skills tune up course, particularly for those with no prior formal handgun training. It provides an opportunity to practice the different parts of the LTC shooting test, improve your shooting, learn the safe gun handling standards expected by most formal training programs, and more!
