KR TRAINING OCTOBER 2016 NEWS

October is our last full month of training before our deer/football/holiday season break. There are still slots open in several upcoming courses, including the Skill Builder and long gun classes we added on October 22.

2016 FALL CLASSES

The latest schedule is here. Classes coming up soon include:

OCTOBER 22 CLASSES

Due to student requests we changed the courses scheduled on Oct 22 to a Skill Builder and a Defensive Long Gun Essentials.

FALL 2016 FORCE ON FORCE TRAINING

If you are serious about being prepared for self-defense, you need to do more than live fire. Force on force training is full context scenarios against live opponents, using non-firing "red guns", Airsoft and/or Simunition. Claude Werner's list of negative outcomes for armed citizens includes tactical and legal errors that aren't trained or tested by live fire drills.

If live fire drills are learning your scales or memorizing your lines, force on force training is full costume dress rehearsal. Anyone at the carry permit level or higher should have "take force on force training" on their personal training to-do list.

We have multiple opportunities for force on force training coming up this fall: the Advanced Training 2: Scenarios course Oct 15, the AT-5: Tactics Laboratory class Oct 29, and the Armed Parent course Dec 10-11.

TACTICS LABORATORY - LOW LIGHT SHOOTING 2

On Oct 29, Leslie Buck, Dave Reichek and I will offer another session of our Tactics Laboratory course, which integrates gun, knife and unarmed skills. This course includes drills similar to Craig Douglas' Extreme Close Quarters Concepts course (which KR Training will host in March 2017). We've paired that course with our new two hour Low Light Shooting level 2 class.

ARMED PARENT

In December, we'll be hosting Citizens Defense Research instructors John Johnston and Melody Lauer and their innovative new Armed Parent course. This two day course specifically addresses equipment, training and tactics for parents of all ages of children, from babies to teens. Both John and Melody are experienced national level trainers and parents who carry in public.

2017 PREPAREDNESS CONFERENCE

The 5th annual Paul Martin Preparedness Conference is scheduled for January 7th, 2017 at the Cabela's in Buda. This year's conference will include national level speakers as well as local experts. This year's conference is $60, and registration is now open.

GIVENSFEST 2016 RECAP

In September we hosted Tom & Lynn Givens (Rangemaster) for 4 back to back classes over 10 days, including two sessions of the Advanced Instructor course that drew attendees from as far as Missouri, Mississippi, Ohio and Florida. Every class sold out, and the instructors and students sweated it out during an unusually hot September. Karl Rehn and Dave Reichek tied for top shooter in the final Advanced Instructor class of the sequence.

We now have eight staff instructors that have passed both the 3 day instructor and 2 day advanced instructor training with Rangemaster. Tom and Lynn will be returning in 2017 to offer their Shotgun instructor course and other classes.
